The truck may be available at a discounted or free rate when you move in.

Many storage facilities charge an administrative fee or move in fee. Once you sign your lease, the only person who has access to your storage unit is you. You will need to have insurance on your goods if you store with a storage facility. Your homeowner’s insurance may cover your storage unit. If you don’t have insurance, most storage units offer insurance that you can purchase.

Your own lock is required. Most facilities will supply a lock as a standard practice. The disk lock is the most secure type of lock. Self storage facilities also have other security measures, such as:

Many storage facilities offer both gate and office hours. They are usually open during the week and close on weekends. You can access your unit via the gate hours. These hours extend beyond regular office hours. They typically occur between 6am and 10pm seven days per week.
